Façade Renovations and Improvements Grant
The Façade Renovations and Improvements Grant aims to enhance the aesthetic appeal of Weslaco's retail and commercial properties by offering financial incentives for the restoration and improvement of building exteriors.
Grant Criteria
Target Areas
All retail and commercial properties within Weslaco city limits are eligible, excluding the extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ).
Objective
Funding to improve building exterior façades — including windows, doors, glass, brick, mortar, awnings, trim, paint, parking, and landscaping.
Grant Amounts
- Maximum grant per lot: $5,000 (50/50 match)
- Maximum for three city lots: $15,000
- Signage grant limit: $1,000
- Grants are reimbursed after project completion and documentation
Grant Limitation
Projects must be completed within 90 days of approval. Failure to meet this deadline results in the forfeiture of the grant.
Eligibility & Requirements
Food trucks and non-profits are ineligible
Funds are exclusively for exterior improvements
Grants cannot be used for interior improvements, inventory, or working capital
Relocating within three years requires repayment of the signage grant
A 5-year lien is placed on the property for grants of $10,000 or more
Once the maximum grant amount is reached, the property becomes ineligible for further grants
How to Apply
- 01 Verify grant fund availability with EDCW.
- 02 Submit the Façade Grant Application to the EDCW office in person or via email.
- 03 Applications must be submitted two weeks before the monthly Board of Directors meeting.
- 04 Approval must be obtained before starting any construction.
- 05 Provide three itemized quotes (one from a Weslaco-based contractor).
- 06 Submit before and after photos of the proposed and completed work.
